I'm with Tom - people should just get on with their lives, get the
fonts they want, and stop agonizing over MF vs T1 so much...

me, i use the LaTeX `aefonts' package which provides VFs to mimic T1
layout using the BlueSky/Y&Y CM fonts. on the rare occasions I want
CM....
