Lucidux fonts

Hi,

I have just tried to install (for use with TeX) the Lucidux fonts 
distributed with XFree86 4.0.  I am astonished to see that these 
fonts are apparently lacking many common glyphs; e.g., as to 
Lucidux Sans:

`guilsinglleft'
`guilsinglright'
`quotedblleft'
`quotedblright'
`quotedblbase'
`endash'
`emdash'

and more.  At least, these glyphs are not listed in the afm file.

What is wrong here?
Do I misunderstand what these fonts are made for?
Are my afm's corrupt?
