[tex-k] make = gmake?

Hi,
some years ago I experimented with parallel makes of teTeX and noticed
that this is not really possible with stock make; one needs the gnu
extensions for multiple targets
(http://www.gnu.org/software/make/manual/make.html#Multiple-Targets).
At that time the decision was to use only stock make features and not
use gnu extensions. Is this still uphold? gnu make can be easily
installed on most Unix plattforms, I think.
