In your Makefile,

ttemp.pdf: ttemp.dvi
	dvipdfmx ttemp.dvi

there is not -r 300, so the default, 600dpi is used.

Here, ttemp_dvipdfmx.pdf is the same as ttemp_dvips.pdf by
dvipdfmx -r 300 -o ttemp_dvipdfmx.pdf ttemp.dvi
