If you have found many alternatives and you are asking for which is best,
I can't help. Otherwise you could have a look at the Topic version of the TeX Catalogue:

or enter "literate programming" or "listings" in the third field ("package informations") of
http://ctan.tug.org/search.html
listings and highlight may be most renowned and useful, according to what I have seen
in studying certain parts of CTAN recently, but I have never used such a package myself.
